I consider myself a photographer even though a lot of my work jumps over into mixed media. I've been working on some new stuff - encaustic painting and photographs! This has sprung from buying a digital camera. Since going digital, I have not used my darkroom. I have been struggling to figure out how to make the work physical again. Printing the images on an inkjet just wasn't enough "process" for me. Encaustic photographs are a good outlet. I am trying to add more of the artist's hand in these works, I don't create an encaustic print just to make a shiny photograph. Some of the encaustics are paintings, there is no photograph.
